Vela X at 31 Ghz
We present observations of the Vela X region at 31 GHz using the Cosmic Background Imager (CBI). We find a strong compact radio source (5A9 ; 4A1, FWHM) about the Vela pulsar, which we associate with the Vela pulsar wind nebula (PWN) recently discovered at lower radio frequencies. The CBI’s 40 resolution for a 450 field of view allows the PWN to be studied in the large-scale context of Vela X. ...
متن کاملPoint to Multipoint at Millimetre Waves Above 90 GHz
The Point to multipoint wireless distribution is the most effective and affordable modality to deliver data to a high number of terminals distributed randomly in a wide area. The use of high density small cells, mandatory to increase the throughput per users, maintaining terminals at sub-6 GHz frequency, needs capillary backhaul networks that fibers cannot effectively provide. The TWEETHER proj...
متن کامل5G radio access above 6 GHz
Designing and developing a millimetre-wave (mmWave) based mobile Radio Access Technology (RAT) in the 6-100 GHz frequency range is a fundamental component in the standardization of the new 5G radio interface, recently kicked off by 3GPP. Such component, herein called the new mmWave RAT, will not only enable extreme mobile broadband (eMBB) services, but also support UHD/3D streaming, offer immer...
متن کاملSilicon Carbide “super” Junction Transistors Operating at 500 °c
1200 V/ 3 mm active-area SiC “Super” Junction Transistors (SJTs) display current gains as high as 88 and majority carrier operation up to 250 °C. The SJT operation shifts from purely unipolar to bipolar-mode at temperatures ≥ 300 °C. The leakage currents at a blocking voltage of 1200 V remain below 100 μA, even at 325 °C. Temperature-independent turn-on and turn-off times < 15 ns are measured u...
متن کاملNonlinear acoustics at GHz frequencies in a viscoelastic fragile glass former.
Using a picosecond pump-probe ultrasonic technique, we study the propagation of high-amplitude, laser-generated longitudinal coherent acoustic pulses in the viscoelastic fragile glass former DC704. We observe an increase of almost 10% in acoustic pulse propagation speed at the highest optical pump fluence which is a result of the supersonic nature of nonlinear propagation in the viscous medium....
